I finally got it to work somehow trying a dozen different things. I guess the
ethernet cable will always have to be plugged into the Time Capsule, but it does
do its work wirelessly backing up my MB Air. Thanks for your response.

sounds like a home network problem. Is your regular internet from
att/verizon/comcast? if that is working time capsule is just and extension off
that and a re-transmitter.

I am putting in a call to Apple Support to see if there is a way round
this. Will post again when I resolve it. I also have an iPad 2 and Appke
have explained to me how to mirror the iPad and ATV.

AFAIK, and I have an AppleTV, it is not a document or file reader. It is for streaming capabilities. If you desire to view your MBP on your TV, I suggest an DVI to HDMI cable with audio capabilities.
