I think it will go from China to the US first . You will be able to track it.

For people who have ordered before, what is the route my new ipad will take from the UPS hub in KY, to N. Calif. ?
My hope and guess would be to Mather Air Base out side of sacramento.
Also when will it start to move. ? Has a delivery date of 3-16 by the end of the day.
Thanks

Hello,
Welcome to the macbook group at Yahoo Groups. Please take a moment to review this message. Better yet, please keep this message in a safe place, so you'll always be able to reference it.

Basic guidelines:
1. This is a group of fellow users. This is not Apple. We do our best to share experiences and help others. Ask, participate, share, comment, gossip, enjoy, but leave the soapbox and sensationalism at home.
2. No spam. No advertising unless approved by the moderator. No discussion of cracks or pirating which could endanger the list.
3. No personal attacks. Offenders will be banned without warning.
4. Trim your quotes! This includes leftover Yahoo footers and signatures. Members who continually quote 60 lines, and only enter 2 of their own, may find themselves permanently moderated (or unable to post at all).
5. Please limit your signatures to 5 lines maximum, and do not post from any location which inserts legal disclaimer footers. If you cannot control this feature (by an employer, for example), please use the web site to post. Remember, this is a fully public group. Personal info in signatures, like email address and phone number, are probably best kept private. When in doubt, post without.
6. The official language of this list is English. We only make this declaration to keep things simple and prevent abuse.
In order to foil spam bots, all new members are automatically moderated. This may cause your first post to be delayed in reaching the list, but rest assured that it is worth the effort. Yahoo doesn't offer any other way to control spam, and their filtering is a joke, so this is all we have.

Again, I know very little about this (although I do know what AR speakers are!), but I wonder why you have to mess with wiring to change speakers. If the amp doesn't have a switch to select speakers, surely there is a switch box that could be used.

We ripped our CDs to the desktop iMac (we only have about 120). We listen wirelessly via our Apple TV and can also control the selection with our first generation iPod Touch.
We have two very large vintage speakers (AR3) and a 15-year-old analog receiver/amplifier. We can switch the sound to the big speakers (rather than the TV speakers) but the process involves physically moving wires.
We are very happy with the Apple TV solution but we are planning on getting a modern AV receiver to solve the speaker selection problem and also to run a future sound bar or home theater type set of speakers for the TV.
I recommend, as Tolllle suggested, ripping your CDs. ITunes makes it pretty easy.
I would like to ask Tolllle what he/she means by an "extra Digital/Analog Box" and if he/she has any specific suggestions.

Thanks for the comments. I'll take a look at Airplay as I have a number of
older Macs that might be tasked as music servers.

A bit off topic, but not completely. I'm considering building an
Apple-based
system to serve music to my home stereo. There are lots of suggestions, but
few user experiences. Any recommendations? I'm open to buying the components
needed to make this happen, but have a limitation in that my Internet
service is ATT&T U-Verse.
Thanks for any comments or recommendations,

My 'user experience' is the music stored local on an Airport Disk and a
selection of it in my iPhone and iPad. I use an Airport Express and a
iPhone/ iPod Dock both attached to my home stereo (Braun Atelier A1).
I think it's a comfortable (and inexpensive) start to enjoy my music
library.
The two ways to get the music to the amplifier both have their pros:
1. Put an iPhone/ iPod into the dock and listen to the music continously and
charge your device.
2. Use AirPlay from any Mac Computer or iOS device to quickly skip to
another song or album. Without cables! From anywhere in your house.
If you are going for better "high fidelity" sound it makes sense to rip your
CDs in Apple Losless, throw away the Dock and use the optical output of the
Airport Express to serve your amplifier.
If you have an analog amplifier (like me) an extra Digital/ Analog Box will
make a difference compared to the bad one built into the Airport Express.
Streaming music from the internet gave me too many bad encoded/ compressed
music, so I wouldn't go this way.

I'm interested in this topic, but know very little. Presently, I'm simply plugging in a high quality speaker system to my iMac and using iTunes to play music. Other than the issue of installing speakers in other rooms and controlling them, I don't understand the need for other approaches. Of course, I don't even know what AirPlay is, so what do I know?
