Re: [MacBook] upgrading to 10.7

I'm curious about this too............. since it can be used with a PC I don't know why it couldn't be used with Lion or Snow Leopard!

Subject: [MacBook] upgrading to 10.7

Correct me if I am wrong, but as I understand it in order for me to make use of iCloud on my iPad and sync to my laptop I will have to upgrade to Mountain Lion ( 10.7).
My question is this: what will I lose when I do this? Will it affect Microsoft Office files that I use?

Thanks!

[MacBook] MacBook Pro 13" & External Display stonewalled me

I'm just getting acquainted with my MBP late 2009, Sno Lep, and have tried for a full week now to get an external display to power up via the miniport/adapter to VGA display(s). I believe I've tried every 'fix' anyone on the myriad forums suggested and still do not get a live screen. I wasn't yet able to get through a call to the nearest Apple store (50 miles away). I've pretty much shed the Windows OS mentality, but am stymied by the external display issue.

Both external displays work with other (Dell) computers. Everything seems okay with the Mac, I've tried every conceivable resolution setting, mirror/no mirror, etc. I suppose the new adapter could be defective but have no way to check that (as far as I know). Yes, I used an external keyboard and mouse also when trying to connect the display. Portability will be great when I need it in the field, but for now I prefer the comfort-style external keyboard since I've spent a few decades on ergo boards and the Mac keyboard is like tap-dancing on a pinhead.

Is there a way to check the integrity of the adapter? I'm no tech but up till now have always been able to diagnose and solve my own computer issues (including the dying motherboards on both Dells).

Re: [MacBook] Mountain Lion installed:rectangular box on screen.`

Make sure you hav VoiceOver and Zoom turned off in System prefs>universal access>seeing. I think the rectangle box is the cursor for one of those.

The one today is from sellyourmac.com.
Does anyone know if this is a trustworthy site?

I want to sell my 1st gen iPad and would like to know how to return it to it's original state, removing any and all info of mine.

Back up your iPad first. If it is a 3G model, and you buy time monthly from AT&T, call them to suspend the subscription, and remove the sim card from the device so that it cannot be re-activated by the next owner and charged to you. Then you can set it to factory defaults by going to Settings, General. Press Reset and choose Erase all Content and Settings. The iPad will retain any updates you have gotten but this will remove all your personal information and apps except for those which come with it.
