[MacBook] Adding and changing notification sounds
I want to set up separate sounds for different notifications. I can see where the sounds are but how do I set Yahoo messenger to give one sound and income mail a different one?
Thanks

We'll find out soon enough.
Anyone know if IOS 5 will give the iPad better printer options?
Thanks,

The double spacing is likely because there is both a carriage return and a new line being set. If it is possible, you should change it to insert just a new line when you hit return.
The extra spaces are there, but when a browser displays plain text, it reduces extra white space down to one single space. Any display formatting needs to be done using HTML and CSS. You could also cheat and wrap the entire document in <pre></pre> tags and see if that is acceptable.

(If this is OT, please reply privately.)
I'm a web newbie, trying to upload files to a site. The files are in
NeoOffice and I'm using Fetch to upload them.
My problem: The NeoOffice files are single spaced (with carriage
returns; they're lists) and have spacing within lines to make items
line up. After I upload them, they are double spaced and wherever
there were several spaces within a line, it has been reduced to one
space.
I made sure I set the transfer mode to Text. The Fetch FAQ does not help.
I need to get these files uploaded in decent shape in the next few
days, so I would greatly appreciate help.
(In case someone is curious, this is the Civil War Units File, a list
of more than 3000 people who are willing to help others research
specific units in the U.S. Civil War. I have maintained this for
about 20 years but up to now I have sent the files to someone else to
upload. That option no longer exists so I got web space on
rootsweb.com and am climbing a steep learning curve.)

any one editing in FCP on a Mac Air ? looking for a " road" lap top so my G5 will stay home a rest up.
When I click on the address bar in Firefox, it highlights the scrip so I can just type in a change. In Safari, it seems to try to append whatever is there. If I tab in, it highlights the entire IP address but I am betting I have a setting wrong someplace.
Thanks
Jan
Switch to a SSD I did

I have a Macbook Pro Unibody and the hard drive is NOT recognized by the system. I can boot externally from both USB and CDRom.
The drive is good because if put into an external docking station it boots fine.
Disk Utility does not see it either. The drive is getting power and spinning, but the system is not recognizing it.
Cables are OK used on from another Mac.
What else can I do?
taking the unit to Apple is the best bet, as they can answer all your questions in terms of what you can upgrade and how far. can always go to apple web site and discover what can and can't be performed on unit.
backups are always a great and brilliant idea, no matter the situation. better to carry an umbrella and not need it, than to get caught in the rain and wish you had the protection.
humor leaks out every now and then. can't help myself.

Hi.
I have a MacBook Pro I would like to update but I'm not quite sure how to go about it,
or how much of an upgrade I can actually do. Any help would be appreciated.
It's running OS X 10.4.11, has a 2 GHZ Intel Core Duo, 512 MB 667 MHZ RAM.
I think I can take the RAM up to 2000 MB.
If I upgrade the OS do I need to back everything up ? Is this something {upgrading} that
I can do myself or should I take it somewhere and have a pro do it?
Is it better to go to Apple, or to a place like Tekserve in NYC ?
Thanks in advance.
Mick
I'm working on a friend's laptop and after replacing a failed harddrive, the system will not power up. I pulled out the new drive and tried booting the install cd, no power. What could have happened?

The last time I encountered similar problem was due to faulty system board and I scrapped the whole lappy, just too expensive to repair without valid AppleCare.
