[MacBook] Latest MacBook Pro & Flash

After years of my wife complaining about her computer running XP Pro
I bought her a new MacBook Pro for Christmas. She is a Facebook fan and has been trying to view videos on here friends FB pages, it does not run?? Then she tried going to You Tube and it said she needed to install adobe flash. Next she when to the adobe page and tried to download the flash software, up pooped a message saying computer error installing the flash.

Does anyone have any idea's how to get flash working.

Hello,

Welcome to the macbook group at Yahoo Groups. Please take a moment to review this message. Better yet, please keep this message in a safe place, so you'll always be able to reference it.

To start sending messages to members of this group,
simply send email to

Basic guidelines:

1. This is a group of fellow users. This is not Apple. We do our best to share experiences and help others. Ask, participate, share, comment, gossip, enjoy, but leave the soapbox and sensationalism at home.

2. No spam. No advertising unless approved by the moderator. No discussion of cracks or pirating which could endanger the list.

3. No personal attacks. Offenders will be banned without warning.

4. Trim your quotes! This includes leftover Yahoo footers and signatures. Members who continually quote 60 lines, and only enter 2 of their own, may find themselves permanently moderated (or unable to post at all).

5. Please limit your signatures to 5 lines maximum, and do not post from any location which inserts legal disclaimer footers. If you cannot control this feature (by an employer, for example), please use the web site to post. Remember, this is a fully public group. Personal info in signatures, like email address and phone number, are probably best kept private. When in doubt, post without.

6. The official language of this list is English. We only make this declaration to keep things simple and prevent abuse.

In order to foil spam bots, all new members are automatically moderated. This may cause your first post to be delayed in reaching the list, but rest assured that it is worth the effort. Yahoo doesn't offer any other way to control spam, and their filtering is a joke, so this is all we have.

[MacBook] Re: Front Row and Lion OS X

Found the lost files. You go back to a time in TimeMachine before Lion and restore the

files you will need to restore are:
/Applications/Front Row.app
/System/Library/CoreServices/Front Row.app
/System/Library/LaunchAgents/com.apple.RemoteUI.plist
/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/BackRow.framework
/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/iPhotoAccess.framework
It worked for me - I have just clicked the FrontRow icon in Applications and it worked a treat

[MacBook] Re: Front Row and Lion OS X

do a search of this site and you will find the answer. I transferred my old version of Front Row from TimeMachine. The post shows what files to transfer - it does work.

Any problmes I will ty and find if I saved the files on my computer. Lets know how you get on

[MacBook] MAC file problem

2011 12 29

This may be only an Excel problem and maybe not unique to my MBPro (early 2010, running 10.6.8 & Office 2008). I seem to recall it also has happened on one or more other macs.

Sometimes when clicking on an excel file to open it, I get a message to the effect that the file "cannot be found". It does not matter if I drag & drop it to excel in the dock, no effect. The only way I can open the file is to drag or copy it to the desktop (or sometimes just to a level one below it), and then open it.

It's not a function of a file being way down deep in the file system. This happens with files that are only one level down from the desktop.

Has anyone got a clue? It is really annoying, though it does not happen with all excel files.

Thanks and a Happy New Year to all!
