[MacBook] Air or Pro?

I am considering converting and debating which model to choose. I will go with a 13" screen. I travel a lot by van which is set up to be home and office while away. I have three stand alone spreadsheets used for payroll data storage and calculation. I do a small amount of text editing. I participate in some Yahoo groups and a couple of forums related to my business. I have business and personal emails. I might watch an episode of a TV show on abc.com or USA.com or whatever.

I have heard of GTA and a few other games but don't play any. I do now and then enjoy sudoku and crosswords. IOW, I don't do any highly intensive computational work. I'm considering the $1,199 version of both models with the $100 upgrade to 8gb memory. The weight of the Pro isn't an issue since I won't be schlepping it for miles across campuses or anything.

Opinions please, based on my usage, whether the extra memory is advisable, whether one model is superior to the other, and any/all other comments/suggestions/opinions you'd care to share. Thanks and 73.

Re: [MacBook] transferring old 8mm video footage to imovie

Patty,

What hardware are you using for the capture? And what camcorder are you using for playback? The 4 pin S-Video will give the best picture. If you use the S-video you will not use the yellow cable as that is standard video, you will then use the red/white cables for audio assuming that is what the capture device has.

[MacBook] transferring old 8mm video footage to imovie

I would appreciate any tips on syncing audio and video as i transfer footage from my camcorder to my mac book pro. I successfully transferred vhs footage to mpr iMovie via
roxio transfer program. yay!! last night as i tried to transfer from the camcorder the audio
and video seemed to have a bit of a delay. I used the s cable and the yellow plug for audio.
Then tried using the red, white, yellow and s cable .. maybe an improvement there. What's the best method?

Thanks,
Patty

Thank you. I'm ordering an iPad, and have joined the iPad list on
yahoogroups. Hoping the iPad will get along well with my MBP.

Hi Carol,

Just curious which way you ended up going?
Hope you're more than happy with your new 'toys'.

Basic guidelines:

1. This is a group of fellow users. This is not Apple. We do our best to share experiences and help others. Ask, participate, share, comment, gossip, enjoy, but leave the soapbox and sensationalism at home.

2. No spam. No advertising unless approved by the moderator. No discussion of cracks or pirating which could endanger the list.

3. No personal attacks. Offenders will be banned without warning.

4. Trim your quotes! This includes leftover Yahoo footers and signatures. Members who continually quote 60 lines, and only enter 2 of their own, may find themselves permanently moderated (or unable to post at all).

5. Please limit your signatures to 5 lines maximum, and do not post from any location which inserts legal disclaimer footers. If you cannot control this feature (by an employer, for example), please use the web site to post. Remember, this is a fully public group. Personal info in signatures, like email address and phone number, are probably best kept private. When in doubt, post without.

6. The official language of this list is English. We only make this declaration to keep things simple and prevent abuse.

In order to foil spam bots, all new members are automatically moderated. This may cause your first post to be delayed in reaching the list, but rest assured that it is worth the effort. Yahoo doesn't offer any other way to control spam, and their filtering is a joke, so this is all we have.
