The US Is Waging An All-Out Proxy War With Russia In Syria -- Geoffrey Ingersoll, Business Insider
Let's call it what it is: a proxy war.
Ben Brumfield of CNN reported that U.S. troops arrived in Turkey today to man Patriot missile systems. The systems themselves are officially NATO property, but the people with the finger on the trigger are decidedly American.
From Brumfield's report:
In response [to Assad launching Scud-B missiles on Allepo], the U.S., Germany and the Netherlands deployed Patriot air defense missiles to the border region to intercept any Syrian ballistic missiles.

My Comment: After Iraq I suspect that most Americans do not want to get involved in another Middle East conflict. If there is any support for intervention it is to help allies who border Syria .... as well as watching what Syria does with it's chemical weapon stockpiles. But funneling weapons, expertise, and the supplies needed to wage a war .... I just do not see a groundswell of support from the American public (or from the politicans) to do this. If there is U.S. assistance to the rebels it is happening at a minimal level .... correction .... at a very minimal level. For Russia .... the stakes are higher .... but their conflict is not with the U.S., their conflict is against the rebels who are threatening their closest ally in the Middle East.
