[MacBook] Re: Time Machine problem/question

Gary,

Here is the error message.

MacBook_002500a7dbca.sparsebundle" could not be accessed (error -1).

It does not seem to be a hardware problem with the Time Capsule. I still think the file is corrupted or maybe the program itself. I will keep noodling with it.

[MacBook] Re: Time Machine problem/question

Bill, have you tried to reconnect via System Preferences? If so, what happens when you select the disk and click on Use for Backup? I have had to occasionally connect manually but never had an issue reconnecting.

[MacBook] Time Machine problem/question

Hello to the Group.

Last week my Time Machine stopped connecting and backing up my MacBook. I am running OS 10.6.8.

I am using a Time Capsule for the backup harddrive. It seems to be working fine. I can transfer other files and erase them with no problems.

I think the backup file is corrupted. Should I erase it and start over?

Thanks in advance.

Bill

Re: [MacBook] How to I set up/use Messages on my MBA

Have you added your mobile phone number as well?
And the email addresses under which you want to be reached??

If I try to send a Message to gill.gibbons7 at gmail.com this entry turns
red, because it is not yet registered as a valid iMessage delivery address.

Also, be aware that there's a difference between the phone App and
the MBA application. Your iPhone will switch to texting (SMS) when
an number (or accompanying address) is not reachable over the internet.
Your MacBook cannot do this; there it is sending internet-only.

Strange. Try s.menningh at mac.com ? I'm not yet in your contacts list
but it should work anyhow.

I thing you have not yet completed the set-up.

Re: [MacBook] How to I set up/use Messages on my MBA

Sorry to be so helpless at this. I have the same Apple ID on both devices, but when I go to Messages on the MBA - new Message - it asks me to put a contact in the 'To' box but I don't have any obvious contacts. Usually if you start typing a name that is in your Contacts List it fills it in for you? Any ideas please? I must be doing something wrong still.

Thanks.

I rather thought I would be able to do the same with the MBA, but is 'Message' different? I don't understand how to set it up. I don't have any 'Contacts' if I choose to send a message. The iphone is great for iMessage, but the keyboard on the MBA means I can type faster and waffle on longer! Are these two devices compatible for messaging? Advice gratefully received - thank you in advance!

No, this should work. Use the same Apple-ID for all hardware.
Then in Prefs, link them to your phone number and mailadresses.

Re: [MacBook] Solutions to adobe reader not working on my Mac Air

Hi June,

Try a right-mouseclick for downloading the webdocument to your desktop first.
Then drag it from there onto Acrobat (in the dock) to force it to open your file.

If it's an incorrect filetype or you'll need additional plugins, Acrobat will tell you.
